We haven’t seen Reese Witherspoon nude very often. In fact, throughout her entire career, she’s only ever done one single nude scene. I’m talking, of course, about Twilight. No no, not the sparkly vampire Twilight, but the 1998 Robert Benton film starring Gene Hackman, Susan Sarandon and Paul Newman. Susan Sarandon actually has a “nude scene” of her own in the film, but I’m dead sure it’s a body double, so I won’t go too far into that. Besides, it’s not like I ain’t got enough to cover with the Legally Blond star’s tits out. Thank the heavens for desperate career moves.
The movie actually starts with a Reese Witherspoon sex scene. Well, it starts with her frolicking around a Mexican resort pool in a bikini for about two minutes, and then the sex scene. Certainly an effective way to catch one’s attention. Liev Schreiber’s pubes would almost have lost it for me, though, but the director was smart enough to bring the camera back onto the Louisiana-born actress in all her nude glory before the mental scars could form. Ah, but now I’m getting ahead of myself. The scene (or, the notable part of it) starts with her boyfriend on top of her in bed as he moves slowly down her body, her breasts visible all the way. After a very brief conversation, he walks off to take a shower.
As he’s showering, we get some great views of Reese Witherspoon naked when she stands up to go look for her clothes in a drawer. Now, any other director would no doubt have shot this from the back, but not our guy. Nope, we get a nice long frontal look at her as she wonders where her clothes are. The confused runaway then walks into another room to check a wardrobe, opens it, and sees in the mirror the private investigator played by Paul Newman eyeing her over from behind. Sadly, that’s it for the nudity from the film, not counting the aforemention body double scenes for Susan Sarandon’s character.
Now, I’m a be honest and admit I got this film just so that I can see Reese Witherspoon topless in HD, but honestly, it was a pretty good watch. I’d never seen it from beginning to end before (yeah, I know, you’d think 15 years would be enough time), and I’m pretty impressed by how captivating it was. I know that doesn’t sound like much, but I’m not normally terribly into neo-noir, so it’s kinda a big deal for me. I’d actually been holding out for a blu-ray for quite a while, but it looks like that’s not gonna happen any time soon. As a consolation, it’s out on VOD now, so at least we can get a better look than we had on the DVD release… and I suppose even better for all y’all who still have it on VHS. Then again, I’m sure any tapes of that film have been rubbed raw from constant rewinding right near the beginning. Anyway, video clip and stills from the Reese Witherspoon nude scene from Twilight are below, capped from the HD stream in 720p.
